Why the name "Pop Rocks Decor"?
- Mainly because my favorite SiriusXM station was 90's coded and titled "Pop Rocks". I also loved the candy as a kid, and thought it would be so fun to give a nod to the 90's in all it's glory.
Why Yellow branding?
- It's my favorite color. As a kid I would sometimes describe or categorize people by thier "color". Yellow people were always my favorite, and I always wanted to be a "yellow". (I only saw myself as "blank" or white like an empty sheet of paper, so I have no idea what color I actually am).
Do you believe crystals can "heal"?
- Yes, but much like the saying "Inspiration Exists, but it has to find you working"... I believe crystals are a way to help us define what we want, and remind us to go for it.
If someone is sad and buys a "Crystal for Happiness", what it means is that they do not want to be sad anymore. They are taking action to change the sadness. They are actively trying to do the work to heal the sadness.
If someone buys a "Crystal for Wealth" and they hold it every day as a reminder of the future they want to create, then yes, I believe it will help that person build wealth. Because they took the action to acquire the crystal and imbue it with thier hopes and desires. They make a practice to hold the crystal daily to remind them to work hard, take good risks, and keep their eye on the prize, and a future they are choosing to build every day.
When did you start collecting?
- Somewhere in my childhood I started collecting tactile things like rocks, sticks, stationary, stickers, paper... so many things. I especially loved color coding things or seperating things by color/shape/size. Tetris was the only console game I would play...lol.
It wasn't until adulthood that I realized rocks could be 100's of beautiful colors (and not just brown/gray garden rocks). I would say the true madness of collection started during the pandemic. I would post photos of my collection on reddit type boards and people encouraged me to begin selling because of the way I grouped, color coded, or displayed my personal treasures. So the etsy shop was born in 2022.
The Etsy shop is doing well. Why start a private store on poprocksdecor.com ?
- True. As of 2026, we are in the top 2% of Etsy Shops!
It has been a wild ride and Etsy is a perfect starter platform. They will bring you customers via SEO & Title searches. But as the business grew (and it grew much quicker than we ever imagined) we found that the majority of our customers were finding us via TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube (as opposed to Etsy search). We would much rather pay lower fees and pass savings on to our customers inside a private shopify store here (than to continue paying higher fees for Etsy).
Since you brought up costs & fees, will you be raising prices in 2026 to keep up with inflation?
- No. So far, in our 3+ years of business, every dime we made has been put back into the business. During this time we have learned LOTS of lessons, including all the trial and error required to find good crystal wholesalers across the globe. We have found some truly amazing companies and individuals to work with who are able to offer us the best crystal materials, carving quality, and creative freedom (while still allowing us to keep costs in mind for our customers). Because much our inventory was purchased before 2026, we do not need to upcharge to cover the costs of Tariffs, or freight charges that increased recently.
Who is this "we" you keep mentioning?
- Well, there is me, Amber, your crystal loving, color coordinating, display making host...
And there is my husband Dylan! While he is not the one on camera, he is the backbone of PopRocksDecor. Every time you leave a review saying how amazingly well packaged eveything was, and how much care was put into the shipping... that was a compliment to my better half.
And honestly, this has become a family affair. Now that our boys are older they LOVE earning pocket money by helping in the "Rock Room" on holiday breaks or occasional weekends without soccer or drama club events. And it has warmed my heart in the biggest way to see the boys enjoy working alongside me by packing crystal scoops, orders, and helping chose the best crystal, or unpack inventory.
So, if PopRocksDecor is doing so well, why don't you do it full time?
- While I would love to dedicate more time to create fresh new listings, mystery box ideas, and crystal confetti's... our day jobs are pretty awesome. For now Pop Rocks Decor is a hobby shop only. I don't want to lose the joy I get from the shop by making it my soul paycheck. In my current job I lead an amazing team of associates, and I work with quite possibly the best boss of all time, and I get to do that work for a company that I am so proud to represent. So, we like to call PRD our "retirement plan" instead. :)

I have also started collecting items for a collab between Crystals and "Bookish Bundles". At first I considered making my bookish bundles a seperate business but i realized... If my 2 favorite things in the world are crystals and books... then I bet lots of other people love that combo too!
